Residential Use

Biodiesel is a fuel for everyone. You do not need to use pure biodiesel or thousands of gallons of it a year to make a difference. Most people do not even need to make any engine modifications to their vehicles or changes to their home heating systems in any way.

Biodiesel is a nontoxic, biodegradable, and renewable source of energy. It is produced domestically through such agricultural products as soybean oil. Because of this by filling up on biodiesel you are not only contributing to our nation’s economy but also contributing to making the U.S. a more fuel independent nation.

Personal Vehicles

Today’s diesel engines are already about 30 percent more efficient than gasoline engines. When these engines are run with biodiesel, an even more environmentally friendly vehicle is created. With a blend of B20 (20%biodiesel, 80% petrodiesel) a drastic reduction in vehicle emissions is experienced. Carbon monoxide is reduced by 12%, hydrocarbons by 20%, and sulfur an average of 20% as well. This allows the average consumer to drive a fuel economic vehicle and be environmentally responsible without having to pay costly premiums for hybrid technology.

The big car manufacturers have come to realize this and so many have extended their vehicle warranties to include the use of biodiesel fuel. Contact your car company to learn how much biodiesel fuel you can use and start on the road towards a cleaner America.

Home Heating Systems

Heating your home can come at quite a cost sometimes. With oil prices rising and winters becoming even more hectic and unpredictable these costs are no doubt only going to increase in the future. In the Northeast, home heating oil accounts for fifty-five percent of petroleum distillate fuel consumption. Biodiesel thankfully, can be used as a substitute and compliment to home heating oil.

By using a blend of biodiesel and low sulfur No. 2 home heating oil you can turn your heating system into an environmentally friendly machine. Using biodiesel offers you a way to decrease harmful air pollutants in your home such as carbon monoxide, sulfur, and hydrocarbons. We here at BioPur Inc. recommend the use of a blend of B20 or lower to optimize your homes health while still operating safely. With this kind of blend no modifications should be needed to be made with your existing heating system either. Another added benefit is that biodiesel fuel can simply be dropped into your existing system and will blend all on its own.

Please note however that biodiesel has a solvent effect that most likely will release deposits accumulated on tank walls and pipes from previous fuel storage. If you have a particularly old tank it is recommended to replace the filters often during the first few deliveries after the switch has been made. In the long term this solvent effect should thoroughly clean out your heating tank which could lead to a prolonged life of you heating system overall.
